Cape May is home to a wide variety of fish throughout the season. We specialize in pursuing the inshore game fish of our region.
STRIPED BASS
Striped bass are the most popular fish of the inshore waters of the Cape. Their size, strength, and closeness to shore make them extremely popular among sport anglers. We fish for striped bass in both the spring and fall. The spring is great from late March through May, and the fall is superb from mid-October through December(and sometimes into January!). We target striped bass on two trips daily. Open boats for striped bass are 5 hour trips generally departing around 6am and again around 12pm. Departure times vary up to 1 hour. Private charters of 5 and 6 hours are also available.
FLUKE(SUMMER FLOUNDER)
Fluke are our main target species throughout the summer. We target big, doormat fluke in the deep waters offshore of Cape May by fishing heavy structure. Jigging is our preferred method of catching these outstanding and great eating gamefish. Fluke season generally opens around Memorial Day and closes around Labor Day. Fluke open boat trips are 8 hours, generally departing around 6am and returning around 2pm. Private charters of 4, 5, 6, and 8 hours plus are also available.
BLACK SEA BASS AND BLACKFISH(TOG)
Fishing the many wrecks and reef sites adjacent to Cape May provides fantastic fishing for two excellent fighting and wonderful eating fish...sea bass and blackfish! Utilizing a dual anchor system, the ADAM BOMB III is equipped for serious wreck fishing. Southern New Jersey is renowned for its excellent bottom fishing, and catches of jumbo sea bass in fall, spring, and winter along with slob tautog(including a near record 23.5lb fish taken on the ADAM BOMB III) are living proof of it! Sea bass fishing is best from early May through early June, and again from mid September thru late October with another winter season in December, January, February, and March. Tog fishing is excellent in spring through the month of April. The season closes for the summer, reopening in November when it is excellent through January.
BLACK DRUM
Looking for an epic, big game battle, but don't want to run offshore for tuna? Look no further than Cape May's world class black drum fishery. These fish invade the bay to feed and spawn in early May, and are usually with us until mid June. Ranging in weight from puppies of 20lbs to behemoths of 90 plus pounds, there is no where else that you can catch such large fish within a stone's throw of the beach! These trips book early in the season due to limited availability. So call ASAP to make your reservations.
OTHER TYPES OF TRIPS
There a variety of other species available in Cape May for 4, 5, 6, and 8 hour plus trips. Croakers, weakfish, triggerfish, scup, false albacore, bonita, spanish mackerel, and bluefish are all available to our anglers! Give us a call at (609) 602-6834 or e-mail us to discuss the best options for these fish at different times of year.
